INTRODUCTION: The Associate of
Christian Arts course will provide a strong foundation in Christian
Education, and an in depth study of the history and virtuosity of the
Christian life and its expressions. God is the Creator of all life and
beauty and his creation of the universe is the greatest artwork of all
time. Along with the strong Christian educational foundation, you will
learn the expressions of Christianity through all manner of Christian
art, music, drama, writing, traditions, tokens, types, shadows,
preaching, teaching and religious indoctrination.
ACE.l DISPENSATIONAL STUDIES - Credit Units = 5
The study of the seven dispensations and the eight covenants is
foundational to biblical theology and doctrine. It provides an
overview of God and his eternal immutable plan for man and the
universe. This study begins and ends with time as a parenthesis within
eternity. This subject will give structure to all biblical subjects,
ranging from Origins to Eschatology.
ACE.2 MAJOR JUDGMENTS - Credit Units = 2
This study reveals the doctrine, as shown in Scripture, of the Five
Major Judgments: Judgment of Sin at Calvary; Believer's Self Judgment;
Judgment of Believers' Works; Judgment of Nations; White Throne
Judgment. Who or what is judged, purpose of the judgrnent, time of
judgment, extent and nature of each judgment is also examined.
ACE.3 OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY AND INTRODUCTION
Credit Units = 5
Provides students with a grasp of the central purpose, theme,
background, `author' and timeline of each book of the Old Testament of
the Bible, while revealing the Bible as one book, one history, one
story, one cohesive whole.
ACE.4 CHIIDREN'S CHURCH OPERATION - Credit Units =
3
This study deals with a children's program vital to the Church.
Leadership techniques, attitudes and directives are studied, as they
apply to the Children's Church worker or leader, and as they apply to
church administrators, leaders and to the Church in general.
ACE.5 OLD TESTAMENT CHRISTOLOGY - Credit Units = 3
This study gives greater foundational structure toward fully
understanding the New Testament teachings concerning our Lord Jesus
Christ. The Christological types and shadows and the Christological
prophecies in the Old Testament, given hundreds of years before the
Virgin Birth in Bethlehem's manger, tie the Old Testament
incontrovertibly to the New Testament revelation of Jesus Christ.
Together, the Old and New Testaments give us the greatest revelation
of all ages, which is the foundation of the Christian faith - the
biblical unveiling of redemption and eternal life in our Lord Jesus
Christ.
ACE.6 THE FOUR HUNDRED SILENT YEARS
Credit Units = 2
The study cover the time period between Malachi, the last book of the
Old Testament, and John the Baptist of the New Testament. Study of the
Scriptures and the history of that age (where God was seemingly
silent, as compared to His works prior to and following) will
successfully bridge the gap for the SBTS student.
ACE.7 NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY AND INTRODUCTION
Credit Units = 4
This study provides students with a grasp of the central purpose,
background, author' and timeline of each book of the New Testament of
the Bible, while revealing the Bible as one book, one history, one
story, one cohesive whole.
ACE.8 NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH INTRODUCTION
Credit Units = 3
This study covers a most vital area of Ecclesiology, or the Church.
Studies are given to providea thorough biblical understanding of facts
that are often misinterpreted: The founding of the Church; its
baptisms; its elders; its deacons; the place of women in the Church,
and New Testament Church government.
ACE.9 INTRODUCTION TO BIBLE DOCTRINE
Credit Units = 5
This study places the basic doctrines of the Bible into orderly form
and allows the student to master a general overview of the subject
content.
ACE.l0 PERSONAL EVANGELISM - Credit Units = 3
This study shows the importance of personal evangelism. Scripture
teaches it as a requirement for all believers, and as the primary step
in fulfilling the Bible command to "Go ye into all the World and
preach the Gospel . . . ." We teach that to `go' is foremost;
however, to go, prepared and equipped' is far better, according to
Scripture.
ACE.l1 THE HOLY SPIRIT - Credit Units = 4
This study reveals the Holy Spirit as a Person of the Godhead. Study
is made on his personality, deity, work in the Old Testament, his
operation and work in the Old Testament, his operation and work in the
world, during the time of Christ's earthly life, prior to that time,
and during the Church Age. The Spiritual arts and Gifts of the Spirit
are also covered in detail.
ACA.l2 ELEMENTARY CHRISTIAN COUNSELING
Credit Units = 3
In this course the student will gain an insight into the rich
theological framework that supports and directs a biblical approach to
counseling. Connecting biblical doctrine with practical living.
ACE.l3 CHRISTIAN TEACHING SKILLS
Credit Units = 3
This study teaches the student that although there is the need to rely
heavily upon the Holy Spirit for teaching success, there are also
certain scriptural skills. These skills were used by the Lord, and by
Christian teachers through the centuries, thereby providing examples
for more effective communication.
ACE.l4 THE CHURCH OF TOMORROW Credit Units = 3
This study considers the fact that the children of today's Church will
comprise the Church of Tomorrow. And in that light, leaders need to
prepare youngsters for the step-up to adult services, using proper
guidelines. Subjects included are: Leadership styles; key service
elements; true worship and its practice; concept of giving;
uninterrupted altar services; secondary teaching aids; involving
children in ministry.
ACE.15 DEVELOPING DISCIPLES Credit Units = 3
This study instructs the student concerning a direct command of Christ
in the Great Commission. It serves as a guide for the student to
Christ's non-arbitrary method of recruitment and development of the
local church, and to the Body of Christ at large.
ACE.l6 RELIGIOUS LITERATURE: PUBLISHING AND DISTRIBUTING
- Credit Units = 3
This study is intended to acquaint the student with media methods and
biblical ethics, as they relate to ministering to others and the
spreading of our faith. This includes any area of the world, by any
and all scriptural and legitimate means, such as the employment or
association of pastors, missionaries and evangelists, publication and
distribution of scriptural literature, and broadcasting of religious
messages on the airwaves.
ACE.l7 CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Credit Units = 3
This study teaches the believer the importance of, and the value in,
maintaining regular and scriptural devotional habits.
ACE.l8 FINAL COURSE PAPER, THESIS OR DISSERTATION
Credit Units = 3
The Final Paper reveals the student's grasp of the information he/she
has been studying to this point, as well as the ability to communicate
that information intelligently and clearly. A Thesis Form is provided
with each course instructing students in the precise layout and
information required for the Final Paper, and must be followed
exactly. A Final Paper of three thousand words is required; typed,
double-spaced with no mistakes, a title sheet, title sheet with author
information, a dedication sheet, introduction, table of contents,
textual body including footnotes or endnotes, and a bibliography. The
Final Paper is under separate cover from Course Work. Subject for
Final Paper in the Associate of Christian Education is provided by our
office, or by the student, with SBTS approval.
